About the position

The Staff Accountant, Tax at Exact Sciences plays a crucial role in supporting the company's tax function. This position is responsible for preparing and assisting with the company's income tax compliance requirements across various jurisdictions, including federal, state/local, and international. The role involves collaboration with finance and accounting personnel, as well as other tax professionals, to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of federal, state, and international income tax compliance, including preparing estimated income tax payments and extensions, as well as all related analysis and support.
  • Assist in preparation of yearly/quarterly ASC 740 tax provision calculations.
  • Perform general tax analysis and reconciliations, including tax fixed asset reporting and monthly tax accruals.
  • Assist with document requests related to federal, state, and local income tax audits.
  • Gather information necessary for non-income tax compliance including sales and use tax, VAT, unclaimed property and personal property taxes.
  • Assist in preparation and gathering of information for various annual report filings.
  • Assemble information related to notices received from federal, state, and local taxing jurisdictions.
  • Assist in implementing new processes as it relates to tax law and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to interact, coordinate, and communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
  • Professional working knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations as well as US GAAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables and Word mail merge.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA designation.
  • Corporate tax experience utilizing knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 740 concepts.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Professional working knowledge with OneSource tax compliance and provision software, SAP, and BNA Fixed Assets.
