About the position

The Staff Accountant position at a successful National Service Provider in Alpharetta, GA, is a growth-related role within the Corporate Accounting team. This position is designed for a detail-oriented individual who will provide professional accounting support across various financial functions, including financial statement reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and tax compliance. The role emphasizes process improvement and efficient financial reporting, while also fostering a fun and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts for and reconciles all banking activity including both daily activity and periodic bank statements.
  • Book and account for revenue.
  • Fixed Asset Accounting.
  • Review and Approve Amazon purchases to ensure within company guidelines.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations accurately completed by the deadline with all unusual items properly followed up on and completely examined.
  • Properly and timely prepare closing entries for accounting close each period.
  • Responsible for sales tax and personal property tax filing and compliance.
  • Assist with the bid and related compliance process for school related regulatory authorities.
  • Provide high levels of customer service to cross functional departments.
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility that allows performance above and beyond the parameters of this position description exhibiting a team player attitude.
  • Assist with responsibilities including supporting the team with cross training, training, and development, as well as serve as backup in their absence.
  • Work on ad hoc projects and/or report deliverables as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field and preferably education requirements met to sit for CPA exam.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience using SAGE accounting software and programs (preferred).
  • Intermediate excel skills: sumifs, countifs, lookups, pivot tables.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to shift priorities while meeting a constant stream of deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
