About the position
The Staff Accountant position at Robert Half in Spokane, Washington, is a contract role focused on managing various accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. The role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the preparation of financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Assists with preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
- Management of fixed asset listing.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Files tax forms and other reports with various government agencies (e.g., sales tax, 1099s, census reports, property tax assessments).
- Maintains state and local business licensing.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- 401(k) plan administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Two to three years general accounting experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
