About the position

The Staff Accountant position at Robert Half involves managing and maintaining the company's financial transactions, particularly focusing on Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. This role is essential for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and requires strong accounting skills and attention to detail. The Staff Accountant will work closely with various departments and clients to facilitate effective financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee AR processes, ensuring timely and accurate collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Prepare and send invoices to customers, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and accuracy of data.
  • Issue credit memos for claims, disputes, and order adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitor AR aging reports to ensure timely collection and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Apply customer payments daily, ensuring proper allocation.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding billing inquiries and payment discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end close activities by preparing AR-related journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Prepare weekly AR aging reports and other financial reports for management.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within AR and contribute to automation tools implementation.
  • Assist with accounts payable tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on Accounts Receivable.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience in invoicing, reconciling accounts, and managing collections.
  • Proficiency with accounting software; experience with process automation is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
