About the position

The position involves managing financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards within an organization, particularly in the education or nonprofit sector. The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, processing accounts payable and receivable, assisting in budget monitoring, and providing financial analysis to support management decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Process vendor invoices, manage expense reports, and record revenue to maintain accurate AP and AR records.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets, helping ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and perform variance analyses to provide actionable insights to management.
  • Support annual audits and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy in data entry and financial document management.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support budget planning and improve financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the education or nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and MS Excel, including advanced functions like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High accuracy in financial data and strong organizational skills.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and compliance standards.
