About the position

The Staff Accountant role is a position within the Finance department with a major focus on preparing and organizing financial transactions, focused on key aspects of daily, monthly, and annual business functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing invoices, which includes organizing printed invoices, investigating correct coding if not provided, organizing for future review, entering them into the GL system, and filing completed payments with the appropriate backup
• Discuss billing issues with vendors by providing friendly customer service and answering questions to resolve issues
• Maintain integrity of vendor data, regularly
• Prepare and submit daily bank deposits
• Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
• Research and apply for state unclaimed property
• Maintain, update, and record documentation of the company's fixed assets
• Update financial data in a timely manner using excel based calculation files to support quarterly investment analysis
• Support accounts receivables/payables functions as it relates to GL entry
• Create journal entries for business transactions and corrections
• Support certain job duties when team members are out or unavailable
• React in a timely 24-hour manner if the information is not accurate
• Complete all assigned projects by the deadline, especially if it will affect the month-end close process.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience of Accounting
• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, Word; GL accounting systems; Google Workspace
• Sound understanding of financial and accounting practices and principles
• Advanced competency in accounting software systems, ie, MS Dynamics, NetSuite
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• High proficiency in mathematics and the ability to think critically
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
• Superb organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Problem-solving and conceptual skills
