About the position

As the Staff Accountant at Modig Machine Tool US, you will be integral to maintaining the financial health of the organization. Reporting directly to the President, you will collaborate closely with the headquarters in Kalmar, Sweden, and be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. Your role will require strong attention to detail and proficiency in accounting software to enhance financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP or IFRS standards.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing analysis and insights to support strategic planning.
  • Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing actionable recommendations to management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support for various projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP or IFRS.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and data entry.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards in handling financial information.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in accounting or a related field, typically 1-3 years for entry-level positions.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with industry changes.
