About the position

The Staff Accountant at ASM Global's NRG Park in Houston, Texas, plays a crucial role in managing financial matters related to the facility's operations. This position involves handling accounts receivable and payable, maintaining the general ledger, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with facility policies. The Staff Accountant will work closely with various departments to prepare event settlements and reports, assist in the monthly close process, and maintain internal audit controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare assigned event settlements while collaborating with Sales, Event Services, and Operations.
• Prepare assigned event flash reports for reporting and journal entry posting purposes.
• Assist in the monthly close process, including account reconciliations, analysis, and preparation of journal entries.
• Maintain internal audit controls and participate in external audits.
• Assist with exhibitor services event audits.
• Run reports directly through online ordering system software.
• Assist with inquiries and research discrepancies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting or finance.
• Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience and/or training in the sports and entertainment industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of standard accounting principles and financial control procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both forms.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an accounting software package, preferably MS D365 and Boomer Software.
• Experience with ABI timeclock system is a plus.
