About the position

The Staff Accountant position at Robert Half is a short-term contract role focused on various accounting tasks within the service industry. The role requires a high level of analytical skill and involves responsibilities such as managing accounts payable and receivable, conducting bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger. This position is onsite in Lansing, Michigan, and is ideal for individuals with strong accounting knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial statements
• Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks efficiently
• Perform month-end close procedures including journal entries and account analysis
• Prepare and maintain the General Ledger ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP for various accounting tasks
• Implement standard cost accounting practices and procedures
• Assist in complex financial analysis with minimal supervision
• Play an active role in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports
• Ensure adherence to accounting principles and company procedures in all accounting tasks.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proficiency in performing Bank Reconciliations
• Extensive knowledge of the General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Experience in performing Month End Close activities
• Familiarity with accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP
• Understanding of Cost - Standard and Cost Accounting principles
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
