About the position

The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in the newly implemented Journal Entry Shared Services Team at The Nature Conservancy (TNC). This position is essential for supporting the organization's goals of operational excellence and compliance through the execution of specialized accounting services. The Staff Accountant will work closely with ACE leadership and liaise with business unit finance staff to provide guidance and support in processing journal entries and maintaining financial activities in accordance with TNC policies and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Review and register journal entries, interpreting results of transactions and communicating necessary actions needed to comply with accounting standards and business procedures.
• Ensure TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met.
• Reinforce consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provide support related to relevant fields.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience with basic accounting principles.
• Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
• Experience using automated accounting systems.
