About the position

The Staff Accounting Analyst plays a crucial role in the U.S. Energy division, focusing on various accounting and analytical tasks. This position is responsible for inventory reconciliations, month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The role requires strong Excel skills, operational troubleshooting abilities, and a keen understanding of internal processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational and financial systems reconcile at a detailed level for inventory positions.
  • Analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations regarding inventory transactions.
  • Collaborate with the inventory team, cross-functional teams, and IT to identify process and system improvements.
  • Manage month-end close activities, including higher risk general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit requirements and take ownership of respective areas.
  • Understand and assist with the execution of internal controls for assigned areas.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested by the business.
  • Champion continuous improvement and quality control efforts to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support corporate efforts for safety, government compliance, and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Effective team player with cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software systems.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
  • Demonstrates a process improvement mindset.
