About the position

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a highly motivated Staff Analytics Engineer to design and scale a robust analytics platform that delivers impactful insights across key domains, such as Subscription, Growth, Identity, Retention, Content, and Product Analytics. This role involves transforming raw data into meaningful insights by building and maintaining a reliable and scalable analytics data infrastructure. The Staff Analytics Engineer will support analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders by ensuring data pipelines, models, and metrics are efficient, accurate, and accessible, driving a data-driven culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of scalable analytics data models, enabling self-service reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to process and transform data from various sources into clean, trusted, and reusable datasets.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to design robust semantic layers and centralized metrics definitions for company-wide reporting.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring the delivery of reliable and performant analytics datasets.
  • Drive data quality initiatives by implementing monitoring, validation, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure trust in data.
  • Optimize analytics processes for scalability, reliability, and efficiency, including cost management for cloud-based data infrastructure.
  • Enable advanced analytics and experimentation through thoughtfully designed data models and metrics.
  • Mentor team members in analytics engineering best practices and contribute to building a high-performing team.
  • Support platform operations with a focus on high availability and reliability.
  • Serve as a liaison between data engineering and analytics teams to ensure seamless integration of technical solutions with business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business analytics or similar discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability and willingness to learn any new technologies and apply them at work in order to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Expertise in building data models using SQL, with expertise in modern data warehousing tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Expertise with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools such as DBT, Airflow, or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud-based platforms like AWS, with a focus on analytics services.
  • Expertise with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) and their integration with semantic layers.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages for data processing and automation.
  • Expertise in ensuring data quality and reliability using monitoring and validation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct to consumer digital business experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Flink.
