About the position

As a Staff Analytics Engineer at Amplify, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on enhancing educational experiences through data analytics. Your role will involve collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to develop reliable data models and metrics that inform product design and improve educational outcomes. You will also work on automating processes to streamline workflows and ensure data integrity, all while respecting privacy and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ingest, transform, model, and aggregate data to empower teams across Amplify.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to provide clean and reliable data models.
  • Improve processes and tools with automations that simplify workflows.
  • Build analytical models that drive the design cycle for educational apps.
  • Architect data warehouse schemas and SQL transforms to provide insights for school administrators.
  • Analyze performance and troubleshoot bugs using various data tools.
  • Participate in agile rituals and contribute to cross-team knowledge sharing.
  • Establish coding, architecture, and naming standards for data models.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development or data engineering experience.
  • 5+ years experience in computer, data, and analytics engineering.
  • Expertise in SQL and its use in code-based ETL frameworks, preferably dbt.
  • Expertise in ETL/ELT pipelines, analytical data modeling, aggregations, and metrics.
  • Strong communication skills in writing and conversation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in a development language such as Python.
  • Familiarity with metadata management tools such as Atlan.
  • 3+ years experience building dashboards, reports, and models in business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker.
  • Proven passion for teaching fellow engineers and non-engineers.
