About the position

The Analytics Engineer role at Brightwheel is pivotal in building and maintaining the foundational data environment that supports analytics and reporting. This position combines elements of data engineering and data analysis, focusing on creating scalable data models and ensuring data quality to drive business intelligence. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the data layer for the analytics stack, ensuring it is robust and scalable.
  • Write SQL in dbt to create performant data models in a cloud-based data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with business users and data analysts to design and build data models that facilitate data discovery and analysis.
  • Work with engineers to understand existing data models and implement new structures for enhanced business insights.
  • Own data discovery and cataloging tools to improve visibility into business processes for non-technical users.
  • Troubleshoot, improve, and scale existing data models and reports.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of work experience as an analytics engineer, data engineer, or data analyst.
  • 4+ years of advanced SQL scripting experience within a version-controlled repository.
  • 3+ years of experience coding in dbt or similar transformation tools.
  • Excellent data discovery and analytical skills to manage complex business data requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of requirements gathering, solutioning, and documenting data models.
  • Strong understanding of data quality and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting ETL pipelines within Airflow/Python.
  • Experience working with GTM teams and third-party tools such as Salesforce, Hubspot, or Rev.io.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with data warehouse cataloging for end-to-end visibility.
  • 2+ years of experience building data models with dbt in a cloud-based data warehouse.
  • Experience in data science and implementing machine learning solutions.
  • Experience deploying DBT data models with CI/CD.
  • Experience building data warehousing from large-scale transactional data stores.
  • Experience supporting product analytics via clickstream datasets or tools like Mixpanel.
  • Knowledge of embedded analytics/BI reporting data models.
