About the position

Babylist is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Android to join and lead on our mobile team. This team is responsible for the core experiences of our users through their new parent journey with Babylist. You'll work with expert Product Managers, Design, and software engineers to build out the experience that is the core of our business and execute other key initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design the architecture, manage the performance, and drive decisions to grow the code base on our key consumer app.
• Collaborate with product, design, and mobile development teams to build exciting new features and experiences in the app.
• Shape the future of our codebase with autonomy and control.
• Collaborate with the platform team to design APIs.
• Own platform and infrastructure projects to ensure app stability and updates.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing, architecting, optimizing and shipping high performance Android applications.
• Demonstrate a concrete understanding of Android best practices.
• Experience with Android libraries like Android X/Jetpack, Room, Kotlin Coroutines, Retrofit.
• Familiarity with modern Android architectures and frameworks, like Model-View Intent (MVI), Kotlin Flow, and Compose.
• Confidence in the Android ecosystem and experience with modern Android tools and frameworks.
• Experience in building and executing on Android technical roadmaps.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with emerging technologies like Compose.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or API design.
