About the position

The Staff Applied Research Scientist role at ServiceNow focuses on driving innovations in Large Language Models (LLMs) for Enterprise Language Generation. This position is part of the Advanced Technology Group, which aims to build intelligent software and enhance user experiences through AI and deep learning techniques. The role involves applying AI/ML expertise to real-world challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and overseeing the entire project lifecycle from research to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Use AI/ML expertise to solve real-world challenges and datasets in a practical and scalable way.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and scaling of LLMs as a key offering in ServiceNow's portfolio.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for the language model and codebase.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize requirements for the language model.
• Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from research and development to deployment and optimization.

Requirements

• A minimum PhD with 3 years' experience or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise in Python, OOP, and Design Patterns.
• Experience with Instruction fine-tuning techniques is a must.
• Ability to read latest papers and experiment with the ideas.
• Good publication record in top tier conferences such as ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, AAAI.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Pretraining of an LLM is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with Reinforcement learning is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with various transformer architectures (auto-regressive, sequence-to-sequence, etc).
