In this role, the Staff Associate Architect or Engineer will participate in the evaluation and selection of architects, engineers, and contractors for capital projects. They will provide evaluations and feedback throughout the design and construction processes, ensuring that all projects meet the required specifications and standards. The responsibilities include coordinating design services and capital projects, reviewing designs at each phase, and making recommendations for payments to design service providers. The candidate will also coordinate the bidding process for construction, evaluate bids, and recommend contract awards. Additionally, the position requires oversight of construction activities, including reviewing contractor shop drawings and other submittals, conducting field inspections, and participating in progress meetings. The Staff Associate will be responsible for problem resolution, change order reviews, and approving monthly payment requests to contractors during construction. They will also coordinate substantial and final completion inspections, ensure the delivery of project records, operations and maintenance manuals, and provide operations training for facilities services. A key aspect of the role is to collect feedback from building occupants through a post-occupancy evaluation process, which is vital for assessing the effectiveness of the projects.
