About the position

The Staff Backend Engineer at TIFIN will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of the AI Platform for Magnifi, a fintech solution that enhances consumer investment experiences. This position involves leading backend development efforts to ensure scalability and efficiency, while collaborating with various teams to align technology with business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software architecture and a passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on the architecture and design of the AI Assistant, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Act as the go-to expert for complex technical challenges and decisions, providing expert insights and solutions.
• Contribute to coding, system design, and code reviews, maintaining high standards of software quality.
• Develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions, focusing on backend and infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with product management, DevOps, and other engineering teams to drive innovation and align technology with business goals.
• Build and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, embracing best practices in software development and architecture.
• Define the technical roadmap, make build vs. buy decisions, and recommend technology investments.
• Enhance system efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Shape the company's engineering culture as an early-stage hire.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development, primarily focused on the backend.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, backend infrastructure, and cloud technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of one or more programming languages (Python required).
• Ability to work with various databases (Postgres, SQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Ability to thrive in a highly demanding, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
