Responsibilities

  • Develop chemical processes for cathode active materials.
  • Mentor and train technicians and junior engineers to run processes, develop spec limits and analyze data.
  • Develop process-property correlations and continuously improve processes and/or formulations.
  • Interface with the metrology team for sample submission and co-ordination.
  • Drive suppliers towards material and tool development and design out of the box hardware solutions where off the shelf solutions do not exist.
  • Develop/modify operating procedures and research reports.
  • Provide technical presentations to upper management.
  • Observe all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment.

Requirements

  • At least 6+ years of industry experience.
  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
  • Deep understanding of process development, battery materials and powder processing.
  • Hands-on experience in process integration and demonstrated ability to drive proof of concept into manufacturable process.
  • Experience with scaling up chemical processing into large commercial applications.
  • Able to interpret engineering documents related to equipment installation, such as P&ID, datasheets, control logic.
  • Understanding of powder rheology and experience with bulk powder handling and conveying.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing large data sets through known correlation methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Scale-up of high temperature processing, dispersions, blending and spray-drying equipment.
  • Interfacing with local and international suppliers. Proficiency in Japanese.
  • Prior experience with FAT, SAT of tools. Interfacing with cross-functional teams on equipment install.
