About the position

The Staff Chaplain at Northside Hospital provides essential pastoral care services to patients, their families, and hospital staff. This role involves conducting spiritual needs assessments, facilitating support groups, and developing educational programs to enhance spiritual care within the hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pastoral care services to patients and their families, and hospital staff members throughout the hospital.
  • Conducts spiritual needs assessments and provides spiritual care services as appropriate.
  • Facilitates support group and other patient support services.
  • Develops and conducts education and training programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved program of theological education (M.Div., MATS, Th.M., MPS, etc.) or Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of professional employment as a healthcare chaplain.
  • A minimum of two (2) units of ACPE accredited Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement for chaplaincy or the equivalent.
  • Ability to be open, flexible, and sensitive to cultural and religious diversity.
  • Ability to relate to medical and other patient care staff and religious leaders in the community.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as a Chaplain in a hospital setting.
  • Four (4) or more units of ACPE accredited Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Board Certification, BCCI (Association of Professional Chaplains) or the equivalent.
  • Post-Master's degree education, advanced studies, or certifications related to specific chaplaincy specialization.
