About the position

ECC is seeking an entry-level Staff Chemist to assist in planning, selecting, coordinating, and implementing chemical, analytical, and environmental services for environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects. This role involves both office and field work, following a hybrid model that includes remote work and on-site responsibilities. The Staff Chemist will ensure compliance with project Data Quality Objectives and regulatory standards while managing data validation and analysis processes.

Responsibilities

  • Data validation and management
  • Data table generation
  • Review analytical chemistry laboratory results for compliance with project Data Quality Objectives (DQO)
  • Ensure alignment with the Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP)
  • Compare laboratory quality control results to the SAP's Measurement Performance Criteria (MPC)
  • Apply qualifiers to data based on MPC exceedance
  • Document the data validation process in a Data Validation Report (DVR)
  • Annotate EDD with data validation qualifiers and include reason codes for qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, or a related field
  • Knowledge of chemical, analytical, regulatory, and scientific principles
  • Understanding of sampling and analysis processes and remediation technologies
  • Knowledge of Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, and USACE QC protocol
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and recommend remedial alternatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office products and Windows

  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER Certification
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER training/8 Hour Refresher
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in environmental services
