About the position

Fishbeck has an exciting opportunity for a creative and talented Civil Engineer in our Toledo and Kalamazoo offices. Our offices are growing and have exciting opportunities available. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high-quality work performance, excellent planning and communication skills, and the ability to work with staff in a project team environment. The Staff Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning and designing Civil and Land Development projects, which include site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utilities. In this role, the engineer will perform design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, and prepare reports. Additionally, the engineer will research zoning ordinances, design standards, and permitting regulations, preparing necessary submittals. The position also involves assisting with drafting and plan production utilizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D. The engineer will work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team of architects, MEP, and structural engineers on a variety of projects, including those in Higher Education, Retail, Commercial, Industrial, and others. The role requires occasional lifting and carrying, with normal office working conditions. The engineer will be required to sit and use a computer, and must be capable of traveling to and maneuvering around project sites for attending client and project meetings and site observations. Visual acuity is necessary to perform responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design Civil and Land Development projects, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Technology.
  • 1+ years of experience in land development or general civil engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD required; Civil 3D preferred.
  • Strong computer and communication skills.
