About the position

As a Staff Civil/Environmental Engineer at Montrose Environmental Group Inc., you will play a crucial role in our mission to provide innovative environmental solutions. Located in Nashville, TN, this position involves working on multiple projects simultaneously, where you will support senior technical leads and ensure that project deadlines are met while adhering to firm standards. Your responsibilities will include the development of project document deliverable outlines, technical writing of reports, data interpretation, and creating graphical presentations that are both logical and professional. You will also assist senior leaders in consulting with clients to prepare plans, reports, and assessments, and communicate any potential issues that may arise during project execution. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will be involved in specific project-related tasks such as preparing permit documents, construction plans, and specifications for various facilities, including landfills and recycling centers. You will also assist in the preparation of Part B Permit Application Documents for industrial facilities and prepare construction cost estimates and financial assurance estimates. Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments will also be part of your duties. This role requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, exercising safe work practices, and participating in the company's continuous improvement programs. Keeping up-to-date with industry trends through formal training and professional workshops is essential for your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, providing support to the senior technical lead on a project.
  • Oversee meeting project deadlines and ensure consistent application of firm standards.
  • Develop project document deliverable outlines and layouts, and write technical reports.
  • Interpret data and develop graphical presentations in a logical and professional manner.
  • Support senior leaders in consulting clients to prepare plans, reports, and assessments.
  • Communicate potential issues to leadership that may inhibit task performance within the allotted schedule and budget.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercise safe work practices by following all company safety rules and OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in the company's continuous improvement programs and support team efforts.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends by completing formal training and attending professional workshops.
  • Assist in the preparation of permit documents, construction plans, and specifications for facilities.
  • Prepare Part B Permit Application Documents and associated permit documents for industrial facilities.
  • Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 0-5 years of related experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
  • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher class.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outgoing team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Proficient in Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and associated programs and analysis.
