About the position

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Staff Cloud Engineer to join our Information Technology Group (ITG) in Nashville, TN. This position is pivotal in ensuring that we continue to provide high-quality, efficient care to our patients. As a Staff Cloud Engineer, you will embody the infrastructure as code mindset to build cloud resources that host software tailored to meet business and customer needs. You will be involved in creating foundational services and platforms that enable consistent and safe delivery of products in cloud environments. Your role will require daily interaction with various teams across the HCA enterprise, assisting them in their journey to adopt cloud technologies. In this role, you will manage and take workflow direction from your manager, senior engineers, and product leadership. You will follow design best practices, assist in troubleshooting design-related issues, and adhere to service management standards for cloud. Your responsibilities will also include developing automated tools and scripts for enterprise use, executing and maintaining standard infrastructure as code modules, and supporting workload migration activities to the cloud. You will be expected to adhere to all HCA standards and policies while practicing the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and the "Mission and Value Statement."

Responsibilities

  • Manage and take workflow direction from manager, senior engineers, and product leadership.
  • Follow design best practices and assist troubleshooting design related issues.
  • Follow service management standards for cloud.
  • Follow and understand cloud reference architectures.
  • Assist with the development of automated tools/scripts for use across the enterprise.
  • Assist with the development/implementation of cloud products.
  • Execute and maintain standard infrastructure as code modules for reuse by development teams and other business units.
  • Participate on a team designing, developing and testing IaC solutions for IaaS and PaaS solutions for on-prem or Cloud platforms.
  • Work closely with customers to develop robust and reusable configuration management components.
  • Support workload migration activities to cloud.
  • Adhere to all HCA standards and policies.
  • Practice and adhere to the 'Code of Conduct' philosophy and 'Mission and Value Statement.'
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering, Architecture, or Development required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert preferred.
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals preferred.
  • Google Cloud Engineer preferred.
  • Google Cloud Architect preferred.
  • Terraform Associate required.
  • Strong knowledge of frameworks and software/cloud design patterns used for implementing software solutions.
  • Experience with automation of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of system architecture.
  • Strong knowledge in one or more cloud domains.
  • Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles.
  • Experience in cloud native, deploying within cloud environments, serverless development and/or container-based solutions.
  • Ability to present and facilitate technical ideas while creating alignment among audience of varying disciplines.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
