About the position

Niantic's AR Web / 8th Wall Team is looking for a Computer Vision Software Engineer focused on edge computing. This role involves developing computer vision technologies that operate on mobile devices, both in browser and native environments. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguous situations, quickly learn from failures, and effectively translate vague ideas into actionable tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement computer vision pipelines that run completely on edge devices with tight performance constraints.
  • Build runtimes for iOS, Android, and WASM to perform training and inference of neural networks at the edge.
  • Develop APIs that integrate with existing systems and products.
  • Collaborate with web, design, and product teams to align product goals with delivered features or services.
  • Participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and troubleshoot to ensure API correctness.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with project team members and stakeholders through regular attendance and participation in meetings.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience developing Computer Vision applications in C++.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript / Typescript.
  • Proficiency in WebAssembly integration via C++.
  • Proficiency in iOS and Android native ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in Neural Network training and inference.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress appropriately.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in Bazel build tools.
  • Proficiency in HMD compute environments.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $243,900.00 - $271,000.00 + bonus + equity + benefits.
  • Flexible work environment with required in-office attendance 2 days a week in San Francisco.
