About the position

The Staff Counsel - Product position at Intuit involves providing legal guidance and support to the Consumer Group, which includes products like TurboTax and Credit Karma. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with various legal standards while enabling product innovation, particularly in areas such as AI/ML, data privacy, and consumer protection. The ideal candidate will work closely with product teams to navigate complex legal landscapes and contribute to the development of customer-centric products.

Responsibilities

• Advise and counsel product teams on legal matters related to AI/ML, consumer protection, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide day-to-day legal support for TurboTax AI and consumer platform innovation.
• Collaborate with product management, business strategy, engineering, content design, marketing, security, compliance, and operations teams.
• Produce clear and succinct legal analyses to guide decision-making.
• Communicate effectively with business partners about regulatory obligations and risk management.
• Lead change initiatives and interact with senior executive leaders.

Requirements

• At least 6-8 years of experience advising technology companies, either at a law firm or in-house.
• Significant knowledge in consumer protection, AI/ML, advertising and marketing laws, financial services, data privacy and protection, and competition law.
• Ability to navigate uncharted legal areas and balance risk with opportunity.
• Strong creative thinking and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, teaching, and training skills.
• Demonstrated project management abilities and business acumen.
• JD and membership in good standing with at least one US State Bar.
