About the position

The Staff Engineer role within Visa's Data and Artificial Intelligence Platform group focuses on enhancing Visa's data assets and delivering innovative products and services. This position involves hands-on coding, collaboration with various teams, and contributing to the strategic planning and execution of the platform's vision. The role emphasizes building tools and automation processes for real-time data management and deployment, while also engaging in negotiations with product and business owners to ensure successful technical design and roadmap execution.

Responsibilities

• Conduct aggregations with consideration to metadata management and GenAI use cases.
• Build taxonomy dependencies and ensure availability across products.
• Contribute to strategic and tactical planning and execution for the platform's vision.
• Develop tools and complex automation processes for data transformation, management, access, deployment, and monitoring.
• Participate in negotiations with product and business owners to determine technical design feasibility.
• Collaborate with senior team leads on technical roadmaps and resolve technical challenges.
• Work with different products and data science teams to streamline feature requests and model onboarding.
• Identify and clarify business requirements with product owners and business partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree, or 2 years with an advanced degree, or 0 years with a PhD.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with experience in real-time systems.
• Expertise in web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC).
• Experience in an Agile environment with CI/CD, code reviews, and test automation.
• Proficiency with RDBMS and NoSQL databases like MySQL, DB2, Redis, and Cassandra.
• Expertise in developing large-scale, enterprise-class distributed systems requiring high availability and low latency.
• Strong experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink, and MapReduce.
• Experience with distributed caching technologies like Redis.

Nice-to-haves

• 6 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field.
• 4 years of experience with a master's degree in computer science or similar field.
• 3 years of experience with a PhD in Computer Science or similar field.
