About the position

The Staff Data Engineer (People Analytics) at CVS Health is a technical developer responsible for the development of data warehouse modeling, data pipelines, and analytics specific to People or Workforce analytics in cloud data platforms. This role emphasizes the importance of human-centric health care and aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of health services through effective data management and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage robust data pipelines and ETL processes that integrate HR data from various systems.
  • Develop and optimize data workflows to ensure data accuracy, quality, and availability for the People Analytics team.
  • Oversee a team of data engineers, providing mentorship and guidance on best practices in data engineering.
  • Work closely with People Analytics to structure data for analysis and create reproducible workflows for efficient reporting.
  • Ensure data governance and security protocols are followed in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Partner with HR leaders and IT to understand business requirements and provide insights to support strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on HR or people data.
  • 5+ years' experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory or similar).
  • 5+ years' experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • 4+ years' experience programming in Python for data manipulation, automation, and analysis.
  • 3+ years' experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms and data flows within an HR context.
  • 3+ years' experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • 2+ years' experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).

Nice-to-haves

  • Problem-Solving ability and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical processes to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle BI, Visier, etc.).
  • Technical experience specific to people or talent analytics, data engineering, visualization, business intelligence, or analytical consulting.
