About the position

As a Staff Engineer at CVS Health, you will play a pivotal role in the application development for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) team. This position is crucial for designing comprehensive solutions that align with business requirements while progressively advancing the data warehouse towards its future state. The role demands a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to follow through on tasks and projects. You will assist the team in providing technical direction for the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouse solutions, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include hands-on experience and knowledge of Data Warehouse best practices, particularly with Teradata and Informatica ETL, as well as proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other cloud services. You will be expected to manage multiple migrations into Snowflake on GCP services, set up Snowflake pipelines, and establish data structures. The ability to coordinate across cross-functional areas to resolve issues is essential, as is your experience in strategic planning processes, particularly in translating business needs into IT solutions. In this role, you will also assist the technical team in identifying and resolving data quality issues, working closely with project management to ensure alignment between plans and deliverables. Your strong interpersonal skills will be vital as you collaborate with various teams, including Development, Systems Analysts, and Testers, to translate business priorities into technical solutions. You will interface daily with cross-functional team members within the PBM DW team and across the enterprise, participate in meetings, and provide reporting and metrics for strategic initiatives. Your ability to generate summary, statistical, and presentation reports will be key to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and advance the data warehouse to its future state.
  • Provide technical direction for the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouse solutions.
  • Manage multiple migrations into Snowflake on GCP services and set up Snowflake pipelines and data structures.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional areas to resolve issues and assist in the identification and resolution of data quality issues.
  • Work with project management to ensure alignment of plans with deliverables.
  • Communicate clearly with internal business customers and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects related to application delivery or changes.
  • Assist teams on large projects related to application delivery or changes.
  • Generate summary, statistical, and presentation reports for strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in Data Warehousing.
  • 9+ years of hands-on ETL experience (e.g., Informatica/DataStage).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with BigQuery (BQ).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with GCP or other cloud services (AWS or Azure).
  • 9+ years of hands-on experience with Teradata.
  • 9+ years of experience working in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Working knowledge of AGILE/SDLC methodology.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with both technical and non-technical levels within the organization.
  • Ability to drive clarity of purpose and goals during release and planning activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
