About the position

The Staff Data Engineer at Visa Technology & Operations LLC will play a crucial role in creating new capabilities for AI as a Service while enhancing Visa's code base and development processes. This position involves hands-on activities such as design, documentation, development, and testing of new functionalities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data-driven business solutions. The role requires collaboration with various project team members to drive development efforts from end-to-end, manage risks, and present technical solutions in business terms.

Responsibilities

  • Create new capabilities for AI as a Service while maturing Visa's code base and development processes.
  • Investigate new requirements and design/refactor existing functionality for performance and maintainability.
  • Perform hands-on activities including design, documentation, development, and testing of new functionality.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure development and implementation of new data-driven business solutions.
  • Drive development effort end-to-end for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements and architectural vision.
  • Responsible for all phases of solution development.
  • Collaborate with senior technical staff and Product Management to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until resolved.
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with 5 years of progressive experience in data engineering or software engineering, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming in Java, Golang, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience in procedural programming in Shell, C, or similar languages.
  • Understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, ICMP, PRP, HSR, LLDP, and CIP.
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
