About the position

The Staff Data Engineer II at Western Alliance Bank is responsible for designing, building, and implementing critical components of the enterprise data platform to support the bank's regulatory reporting strategy. This role requires expertise in data management and cloud data engineering, focusing on improving regulatory reporting and analytics capabilities. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders and mentoring other data professionals, while also championing data quality and discipline throughout the data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement critical components of the enterprise data platform.
• Develop ETL and data pipeline capabilities for data management.
• Implement Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines according to technical standards.
• Establish data governance and quality controls in data solutions.
• Apply Test Driven Development methodology in data solution design.
• Incorporate unstructured data and big data into data solutions.
• Lead implementation of recommendations from Data Governance and Enterprise Architecture.
• Collaborate with product owners to understand business requirements.
• Provide technical mentorship to team members and data professionals.
• Perform data exploration and profiling using relevant tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience in data management and/or data analytics.
• 5+ years' experience in data engineering, specifically with ETL concepts and processes.
• Strong technical mastery in data management and cloud data engineering.
• Experience with Azure Cloud data architecture and capabilities.
• Knowledge of automation and integration methods and tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with data integration and analytics trends in the industry.
• Experience with Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud and/or SPSS.
