About the position

The Staff Data Engineer, Integrations Lead position at State Street involves leading the development of data flows, analytics pipelines, and machine-learning systems to enhance cybersecurity efforts. This role is part of the Fusion Analytics and Data Engineering team, which aims to create predictive models and intelligent systems to secure State Street's digital infrastructure. The position requires a strong technical leader with extensive experience in architecture and engineering to mentor a growing team and design a model platform for cybersecurity data professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build global distributed petabyte scale data-mesh systems for high availability, high throughput, data consistency, security, and privacy.
  • Create analyses and tools that highlight significant business, governance, and risk management impacts from cybersecurity data.
  • Build data modeling and ELT workflows for various types of cybersecurity data.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity architecture and engineering leadership to support Cyber Data Science initiatives.
  • Mentor and train engineers and architects, and develop a Data Mesh, Lakehouse, Kappa Streaming, and Data Security Architecture practice.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with Python, Java, or similar languages, and cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Deep experience with big data processing infrastructures and ELT orchestration.
  • Experience developing distributed batch and real-time feature stores, and optimizing large scale data processing jobs in Spark and related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial DataSecOps platforms and building custom access control systems for cloud data lake environments.
  • Experience with data quality monitoring and building continuous data pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Presto/Trino, Spark & Flink, and modern security tooling like Splunk and Datadog.
  • Experience designing and building data warehouse, data lake, or lake house solutions.
  • Experience with distributed systems and large-scale data warehousing solutions.
