About the position

The Staff DevSecOps Engineer at SEON is a key role responsible for ensuring the security, efficiency, and continuous innovation of the platform to support engineering teams. This position involves driving the adoption of modern security-first design patterns, developing deployment standards, and implementing CI/CD pipelines to enhance operational efficiency and security across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the adoption of modern, cloud-first, security-first design patterns and integrate these with existing systems
  • Develop and maintain deployment standards, reusable interfaces, and orchestration workflows that enhance efficiency and streamline cloud service integration
  • Serve as a technical advisor on cloud best practices, focusing on security, performance, and cost optimization for projects and teams
  • Build and maintain CI/CD building blocks and shared libraries proactively for app and development teams to enable faster build and deployment
  • Implement scalable, reusable solutions and patterns for CI/CD pipelines, enabling streamlined deployment across projects
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure automation, ensuring high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Develop action plans to resolve any challenges in CI/CD tools and infrastructure, continuously improving and optimizing these platforms
  • Architect and implement infrastructure and security solutions that align with organizational security standards in collaboration with our Security team
  • Help to embed security best practices within the automation process, creating a robust and secure cloud environment
  • Maintain and update incident tracking tools, capturing all necessary data and documenting findings
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and escalate complex issues when necessary
  • Monitor and optimize application performance and service quality, ensuring high standards and quick issue resolution
  • Ensure adherence to established change control processes, obtaining necessary approvals for changes
  • Communicate updates to project leads and escalate issues when needed, maintaining smooth and transparent communication
  • Collaborate closely with QA, product development, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of security and performance practices across the development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing technical expertise in DevSecOps to support SEON's broader goals

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in DevSecOps, cloud-based provisioning, CI/CD pipeline management, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS
  • Experience with various coding and scripting languages such as Bash, Python
  • Strong experience of using modern containerization software including Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps automation, such as Terraform, and GitHub Actions
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience interpreting and acting on data
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences concisely
  • Experience with data and reporting processes to support DevSecOps KPIs and metrics
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and a highly creative problem solver

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Familiarity with API Security, Container Security, and AWS Cloud Security
  • Strong knowledge of observability tooling (eg. Prometheus, ELK, Grafana)
  • Understanding of ISO, GDPR, and CCPA standards and their certification and audit processes
  • Experience with AWS cloud services at scale (AWS Organization, cross-account networking, permission management with SSO and IAM)
  • Project Management experience
