About the position

The Staff Development Coordinator at Owenton Healthcare is responsible for supporting the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nursing services and programs. This role emphasizes creating a supportive and family-oriented environment for both staff and residents, fostering opportunities for growth and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Director of Nursing with planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing service department and its programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Determine staffing needs of the nursing service department to meet residents' total nursing needs.
  • Supervise and assist in scheduling employees within established state guidelines.
  • Ensure that direct nursing care is provided by qualified personnel.
  • Review nurses' notes to ensure they are informative and descriptive of the care provided.
  • Incorporate commercially produced instructional material and training aids into in-service programs as necessary.
  • Provide leadership in formulating goals and objectives for in-service educational programs.

Requirements

  • Must have experience in supervision and principles of teaching.
  • Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for residents.
  • Strong communication skills to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, and families.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
  • Valid RN license in the state.
