About the position

Shaw Industries is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to focus on project development, design, and execution with an emphasis on electrical and power systems. This role involves close coordination with manufacturing management and other departments to ensure projects meet safety, quality, performance, and budget requirements. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for collecting design criteria, preparing schedules, developing engineering designs, and creating engineered drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute capital and expensed projects with detailed scopes of work and budgets.
  • Solicit stakeholder design criteria and translate it into actionable technical designs.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop project options and proposals.
  • Submit detailed documentation for project approval through online tools.
  • Maintain project files and publish periodic reports.
  • Apply technical standards and project management processes consistently.
  • Track spending and maintain control of project cost performance.
  • Manage onsite contractor activities and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Minimize project-related disruptions to normal plant activities.
  • Perform quality control functions and inspect vendor-supplied equipment.
  • Provide onsite resource for project commissioning and optimization.

Requirements

  • Four-year engineering degree plus 5 years related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including design and specifications development.
  • Ability to work project-related overtime and be on-call.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and effectively lead meetings.
  • Record of completing projects on time and on budget.
  • Experience managing capital project financials.
  • Proficiency in project management and engineering software tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, and NESC/ANSI C2 standards.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design in an industrial environment.
