About the position

The Staff Electrical Engineer at Brookhaven National Laboratory is responsible for designing and commissioning high power RF amplifiers, implementing test procedures, and training technicians and new engineers. This role involves overseeing High Power RF Systems, proposing upgrades, and solving complex technical problems, contributing to the advancement of superconducting and high-power RF systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and commission new high power RF amplifiers.
  • Implement test procedures for technicians and new engineers to follow.
  • Train technicians and new engineers to operate the new RF cavities conditioning program.
  • Develop and implement new PLC controls as needed.
  • Oversee High Power RF Systems throughout the CAD complex and ensure their proper operation.
  • Propose upgrades and improvements, perform partial or complete analysis, design, and execution of parts of an engineering assignment as part of a larger scale project.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in different and broader aspects of design, procurement, manufacture, erection, test and initial operation and commissioning.
  • Utilize broader knowledge on Superconducting and High-Power RF Systems to address new challenges and complex problems that arise during operations or for future developments.
  • Offer solutions to a variety of technical problems of different levels of complexity either independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Education or experience with MATLAB.
  • Education or experience with Control Systems Analysis.
  • Education or experience with Modern Scopes.
  • Education or experience with Network and Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Education or experience with PLC programming.
  • Education or experience with Signal processing.
  • Education or experience with RF circuits design.
