The ECU hardware design team's mission is to ensure our products are designed to target the growing needs of our customers while ensuring robust, well-designed hardware which meets GM specifications and testing requirements from early hardware through the production design. In this role, you will be responsible for leading product development and integration activities. Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems for vehicle programs. You'll effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and effective program management. You will coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program work with excellence. As a leader in this position, you will oversee and guide a team of electrical hardware designers. This involves providing technical direction, assigning tasks, and ensuring the team's productivity and efficiency. You will work closely with other teams, such as software engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware designs into the overall product. Your leadership will extend to embedded designs for advanced module architectures and new IC design/development strategic to advanced in-vehicle architectures. You will also lead electrical schematic design and PCB layout, assess the feasibility of proposed electrical hardware designs, and support next-generation designs in digital/analog hardware including Gig+ ethernet, processors, and memory. In addition, you will perform and review electrical worst-case analysis, represent the GM HW team as a design expert in the core technologies developed among the team, optimize five-point parametric tests, and finalize end-of-line production tests. As a build-to-print engineer, you will act as a liaison with the contract house and apply cost-effective solutions with improved performance design. You will lead product development as part of a multi-hub engineering organization based in Detroit and the West Coast, refining and optimizing requirements with the MPG team.
