About the position

The Staff Electrical Systems Engineer - Nuclear at PSEG is responsible for providing technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues to ensure the reliability and availability of nuclear power plants. This role involves monitoring and assessing systems and components, developing long-term asset management strategies, and leading cross-functional teams to resolve performance issues while ensuring compliance with design and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues.
  • Monitor, trend, and assess systems and components to improve reliability.
  • Establish system performance for designated electrical systems and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Develop and scope long-term asset management strategies and life cycle management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve system performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with design/license basis.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering or equivalent experience in system, design, strategic planning, or component engineering.
  • Ability to support shift work during refueling outages and forced outages.
  • Ability to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or experience in an electrical/controls/digital engineering or technology discipline.
  • 10+ years of Nuclear Power Plant experience in electrical design or plant engineering.
  • Understanding of NERC/FERC requirements, Generator Systems, Transformers, Maintenance Rule, PWR Electrical System Design, and Taproot failure analysis process.
  • Experience with large power generators.
  • SRO license or certification preferred. MS or PE.
