About the position

The Staff Electronic Warfare Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman will lead the development of RF sensors for advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal. This role involves architecture, design, implementation, integration, and verification of multi-function RF sensors and remote sensing applications. The engineer will work closely with a diverse team to solve complex problems and drive innovation in electronic warfare systems, contributing to national defense and technological advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a team Product Owner for the SEWIP Block 3 Electronic Warfare program.
  • Decompose system capabilities into actionable tasks to meet program milestones.
  • Maintain a backlog of tasks in Jira and set team priorities consistent with the program schedule.
  • Define clear Acceptance Criteria for tasks and articulate expectations to the team.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team.
  • Communicate status, risks, and blockers to program management and customers.
  • Coordinate with other teams to resolve interdependencies.
  • Make direct contributions to deliverable work products, including developing test plans and troubleshooting system defects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of related experience; 8 years with a Master's Degree; or 6 years with a Ph.D.
  • Prior professional experience in Electronic Warfare.
  • Prior experience as a team leader.
  • Demonstrated capability to decompose system-level capabilities into functional components and guide architectural decisions.
  • Ability to create capability development plans and advocate for them internally and with customers.
  • Capability to define acceptance criteria and capability selloff test plans.
  • Effective communication of complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives.
  • Knowledge of system engineering principles and best practices.
  • Proficient with Matlab and/or C++.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced understanding of the Electronic Support and Electronic Attack domains.
  • Prior professional Integration and Test experience.
  • Proficient with basic RF test equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience in troubleshooting system defects.
  • Familiarity with Agile development principles.
  • Experience with embedded software systems.
  • Comfortable with business travel up to 25% of the time.
