About the position

The Staff Engineer in Application Engineering at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. is responsible for providing support in IP bring-up and debugging for SoC teams. This role involves silicon validation and characterization of various internal IPs, as well as developing technical documentation and training for internal teams. The position requires collaboration with design and architecture teams to define new chip features and product definitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IP bring up and debugging support to SoC teams.
  • Conduct board and chip level silicon validation and characterization on Marvell's internal IPs.
  • Provide IP usage training to Marvell's internal Field Application Engineers (FAE).
  • Develop scripts for automated testing using Python, C++, Matlab, and Excel VBA.
  • Collaborate with the IP design team on new chip features and definitions.
  • Create technical collateral such as application notes, user guides, data sheets, and test reports.
  • Work with the architecture team on future product definitions.

Requirements

  • Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit and data communication systems.
  • Experience with at least two SerDes technologies such as PCI Express, Ethernet, CEI XSR, CPRI, DDR, SATA, USB, SPI, IIC.
  • Experience in semiconductor chip lab testing and measurement.
  • Experience in high speed PHY IP characterization and qualification including Tx signal integrity, impedance, Rx JTOL, PLL temperature ramping.
  • Experience in PHY supporting IP characterization and qualification including reference clock generator, ADC, temperature sensor, process monitor.
  • Experience in PCB design for high speed signaling: schematic, layout, and validation.
  • Familiarity with SI simulation tools such as ADS and HyperLynx.
