About the position

As a Staff Engineer Electric at PSEG, you will play a crucial role in supporting the operation of the Electric Distribution system, which operates continuously throughout the year. Your primary responsibility will be to provide a range of engineering expertise and management to ensure the integrity of the Electric Transmission and Distribution System. This includes offering technical support to both client and associate support staff, ensuring the development and deployment of efficient application systems that adhere to established standards, procedures, and methodologies. You will leverage your broad knowledge of business and engineering principles, including financial and cost management, to effectively supervise field forces and direct craft/construction or engineering personnel in a union environment. Additionally, you will be tasked with coordinating and assembling information for various reports required for regulatory, internal, and senior leadership review. In this role, you will oversee and directly supervise the work of craft/union field forces and/or engineering technicians, acting as a representative of PSEG management in interactions with customers and external stakeholders such as local municipalities and the NJDOT. Your responsibilities will also include providing design, analysis, and maintenance support for relevant infrastructure and programs, ensuring that solutions are developed and deployed in accordance with established standards. You will be expected to perform on-call duties for division and system emergencies, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining the reliability and safety of the electric distribution system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of engineering expertise to operate and maintain the integrity of the relevant system(s)
  • Oversee and directly supervise the work of craft/union field forces and/or engineering technicians in a union workforce environment
  • Serve as a representative of PSEG management in the face of the customer as well as other external stakeholders (NJDOT, local municipalities, county, etc.)
  • Provide design, analysis, and maintenance support of the relevant infrastructure and/or programs to ensure development and deployment of solutions utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies
  • Perform support in conjunction of on-call duties for division and system emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in STEM discipline, relevant to required discipline
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Electric Transmission and Delivery operations
  • Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g., network protocols, electric technology, regulatory controls, etc.)
  • Must possess the ability to read applicable technical documents and/or schematics
  • A valid U.S. driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
  • On call 24/7 hours to assist during system emergency situations and restoration
  • Must be willing and able to perform regularly scheduled weekend and holiday work in conjunction with quality checks and reporting requirements.
