About the position

The Staff Hardware Validation Engineer at Western Digital is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing Electrical Validation Tests and Failure Analysis on early development SSD products. This role focuses on ensuring that operational performance meets specifications and involves collaboration with internal and external teams to guide design changes for improved layout and testability. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in electrical engineering, significant lab experience, and expertise in Python test automation, with a particular emphasis on EMC/ESD testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute Electrical Validation Tests and Failure Analysis on early development SSD products.
• Ensure operational performance meets specifications.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to guide PCBA design changes for layout improvement and design for testability (DFT).
• Focus on EMC/ESD testing.

Requirements

• BS with 5+ years experience or MS with 3+ years experience.
• Experience with high speed, high frequency oscilloscope measurements.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications, particularly voltage supply requirements.
• Experience in EMI, EMS, ESD testing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with power electronics and sensors.
• Experience with frequency domain and FFT measurements.
• Experience with CAD for PCB layouts.
• Experience with rework/soldering.
• Experience with scripting languages and test automation, preferably Python.
• Proficient with MS Excel, advanced user for post processing of data.
