About the position

The Staff Engineer - Python (Analytics and Data) role at Rialtic involves extensive software engineering experience focused on the design, development, testing, and maintenance of healthcare policy engines. This position is critical for enhancing the performance of a cloud-native healthcare payment integrity solution, which processes millions of claim lines daily. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement predictive models and optimize existing systems, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, maintain and improve Python packages that implement healthcare policies and concepts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and define data science and predictive analytics opportunities that align with our product roadmap.
  • Select, develop, train and deploy data science and predictive analytics models using Python, standard frameworks, and off-the-shelf tools that can integrate into our tech stack.
  • Serve as a technical lead by working with engineering team members on improvements to existing code, implementing new designs and architectures, mentoring other team members to help them grow in expertise and experience.
  • Influence the whole Engineering organization to adopt best practices in software development and testing, helping us all develop high-quality, scalable, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with your engineering peers and build productive relationships with members of the Go-to-Market, Product Management, Clinical Content, and other teams that need our expertise to translate their requirements into coherent technical solutions.
  • Participate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the business logic and other requirements for our Web-based payment integrity solution, client data warehouse exports, and one-time/ad-hoc analysis needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years hands-on experience as a software developer in a professional environment and working with production systems.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Python and on Python applications, including Python dependency management, packaging and publishing tools as well as Python libraries commonly used in data science and predictive analytics.
  • Relevant experience in data science and predictive analytics, including selecting, building, refining and maintaining models.
  • Strong belief and demonstrated capabilities in leveraging the power of testing and test automation.
  • Experience as technical lead in bringing software projects to completion.
  • Experience with shell scripting, Git and continuous integration workflows/pipelines.
  • Experience with SQL or similar query tools/languages.
  • Experience building and debugging data-rich applications.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in a technical field such as CS, Math, Physics or Engineering.
  • Experience in a professional environment with one or more compiled languages (Golang, Rust, C, C++, C#, etc.).
  • GitLab CI, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Experience in healthcare IT.
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
  • Demonstrated success in a remote work environment.
