Staff Engineer - Python Data Engineering

About the position

This position is a key role in the development, test, and deployment of complex solutions. The role involves building data strategy for broad or complex requirements, participating in the strategic development of methods and evaluation criteria for projects, and driving all aspects of technical and data architecture. The candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise, guide functional areas, represent engineering in cross-functional sessions, and collaborate with product managers and designers. The position also includes ownership of features or systems, assisting support teams in resolving production issues, and improving engineering and data standards.

Responsibilities

• Build data strategy for broad or complex requirements.
• Participate in the strategic development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects.
• Drive all aspects of technical and data architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise in building a technical plan and backlog of stories.
• Guide a broad functional area and lead efforts through functional team members.
• Represent engineering in cross-functional team sessions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering groups.
• Actively own features or systems and define their long-term health.
• Assist Support and Operations teams in identifying and resolving production issues.
• Develop and implement tests for quality, performance, and scalability.
• Seek out ways to improve engineering and data standards, tooling, and processes.
• Support the company's commitment to risk management and data integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field.
• Ten or more years of relevant related experience.
• Seven or more years of experience in the development of complex data platforms, distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, microservices.
• Six or more years of experience in the development of Data Warehouse, Big Data platforms, real-time & batch processing.
• Four or more years of experience in development of Business Intelligent Solutions.
• Two or more years of experience in development/operationalization of AI/ML Models.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering business-critical systems.
• Ability to influence and work in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience designing/developing scalable systems.
• Extensive experience implementing Data Warehouse using SQL Server or equivalent.
• Experience with implementing data science solutions using Python, Spark, PySpark, R.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging frameworks.
• Working experience with cloud infrastructure.
• Knowledge of mature engineering practices and SDLC best practices.
• Attention to detail.
• Background and drug screen.

• MS or PhD.
• Experience using AI/ML Model Frameworks like Tensorflow, Sage Maker.
• Big Data Platforms (Cloudera, S3).
