About the position

The Staff Engineer Systems Architect - Global Systems and Interface Architect at Northrop Grumman plays a crucial role in the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which integrates the Missile Defense System. This position involves developing and reviewing interface documents, system requirements, and architectural documentation, while also mentoring junior team members. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality product delivery and support for missile defense operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and review of interface documents and system requirements.
  • Develop Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) and architectural documentation.
  • Conduct formal and informal engineering reviews.
  • Mentor junior systems engineering team members.
  • Interface with team members, management, and government customers to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Adhere to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing technical products.
  • Participate in Agile development, including iteration planning and team leadership.
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and Design Evaluations.
  • Work under Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) for Operational Concept development.
  • Travel to CONUS sites for program reviews and customer meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 14 years of experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of experience, or 9 years of experience with a PhD; or 18 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven track record in applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.
  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts such as specifications and Interface Control Documents.
  • Experience in developing large, complex software systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present technical findings clearly.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Current active in-scope DoD issued Top Secret/SCI clearance.

  • Experience working within an Agile development environment.
  • Domain experience with Space and Missile Defense.
  • Experience with Systems Analysis and Model Based System Engineering.
  • Familiarity with cyber, platform, and network architecture technologies.
  • Experience designing large command and control and weapon systems.
  • Experience processing radar sensor data.
