About the position

The Staff Engineer, Test Development at Celestica is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automatic test equipment and test programs for product testing and design verification. This role ensures the production of robust and high-quality assembled products in manufacturing. The engineer will work closely with various teams to establish testing strategies, lead complex projects, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute assembly/test strategy for new products including design for manufacture and test analysis and feedback.
  • Execute assembly/test bringup for new products.
  • Lead the development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Involvement in all areas of the test development process, including procurement, software development, hardware integration, system integration, qualification, and installation support for manufacturing.
  • Implement production systems to ensure maximum utilization of critical resources, maximum throughput, minimum cost, and capacity growth.
  • Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
  • Analyze tradeoffs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.
  • Integrate tools and code developed by other internal groups or external customers.
  • Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
  • Debug solutions using design of experiments, tools, and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Project leadership, including management of team members, suppliers, and customers both internal & external.
  • Collaborate with a highly experienced engineering team to review and provide input on development designs and test strategies.
  • Work with regional leadership to establish short-term and long-term investment and skills development strategies and business cases for local organization.
  • Execute all validation/qualification requirements by applying statistical and common industry methods.
  • Stabilize Test Solutions for manufacturing by working with process teams focusing on cycle time and yield optimization.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to all aspects of the development process.
  • Some responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering in Computer, Electrical, Software, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of practical software development experience in a Linux environment with at least one programming language (Python preferred).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of practical experience using GIT in a Linux environment (preferred).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of engineering development and manufacturing operations support (preferred, not mandatory).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of systems and printed circuit board manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Knowledge of testing software, processes, methodologies, and failure analysis.
  • Strong operations background (electronics manufacturing experience preferred, not mandatory).
  • Project leadership and managing multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some Javascript, HTML, XML, TCL, Bash Scripting, MS Visual Studio .NET (C#, VB, ASP), SQL (preferred).
  • Instrumentation automation, driver development (preferred, not mandatory).
  • Development in Aerospace & Defense and/or Healthcare industry would be an asset (not mandatory).
  • Development in Hyperscale, Cloud Connectivity and/or DataCenter industry would be an asset (not mandatory).
  • Some development experience with National Instruments LabView would be an asset (not mandatory).
  • Some National Instruments TestStand experience would be an asset (not mandatory).
  • Some board design and layout experience would be an asset (not mandatory).
