About the position

The Staff Engineer - Heat Treating position involves managing industry programs related to heat treating, developing audit criteria, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires collaboration with task groups, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while facilitating technical training and maintaining relationships with auditors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned industry managed programs for task groups.
  • Develop audit criteria and state of the art consensus qualification procedures.
  • Recruit qualified auditors and publish audit/survey reports.
  • Support implementation of company strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct audit reviews with strict confidentiality and compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate Task Group meetings and lead Task Group projects.
  • Provide technical summary reports to the assigned task group.
  • Conduct and participate in Auditor interviews and recruitment.
  • Identify and execute Auditor training.
  • Collaborate with Auditor Staffing to ensure sufficient capacity and manage assigned Auditors and Audit Reviewers.
  • Conduct audits as required upon approval as an Auditor.
  • Lead medium PRI internal projects to support continuous improvement and PRI strategies.
  • Maintain proficiency or gain knowledge for all assigned technology areas by attending classes and conferences.
  • Adapt an existing commodity to another Industry Managed Program (IMP).
  • Develop and manage budgets of assigned activities.
  • Support investigations initiated by the Ethics & Appeals Committee, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in heat treating.
  • Technical knowledge of appropriate science/engineering disciplines/methods.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to make presentations, data pulls, and analysis.
  • Demonstrates a functional understanding of all job knowledge skills, procedures, and processes.
  • Possesses English language oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates Leadership Potential and facilitates team-oriented work processes through application of basic project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to Task Group Level Leaders and others in speaking and writing.
  • Builds and maintains successful working relationships with others.
  • Recommend process improvements and identify gaps with a thorough understanding of assigned technology areas.
  • Meets key deadlines and sets priorities for the accomplishment of activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years experience in another Nadcap Technology.
  • 5 years experience in Quality Systems.
  • Auditing experience / knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • 5 years experience in the Aerospace Industry.
