About the position

The Staff Engineer position at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is designed to provide assistance and recommendations on corrosion-related evaluations. This includes participating in P&ID reviews, equipment specification reviews, damage mechanism reviews of equipment inspections, Equipment Abnormal Analysis reviews, PSM operations issues reviews, RBMI corrosion research, incident investigations, project reviews/studies, PHA studies, and inspection and maintenance audits. The role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of the plant's operations through effective corrosion management.

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of Corrosion Control Manual.
  • Review and improvement of corrosion standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for development, review and maintenance of CEMP, CUI and CUF program.
  • Provide assistance and training on corrosion related PM/PdM program activities.
  • Provide improvement for identified corrosion problems.
  • Assist in development of PSM equipment ITP.
  • Oversee corrosion related regular or T/A operation and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in the technical development and mentoring of operations-based corrosion control personnel.
  • Carries out failure analysis on corrosion related leakage or VOC occurrence.
  • Provide technical resource in analysis of data and damage mechanisms.
  • Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues.
  • Provide recommendations and training to operations/maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 - 4 years direct relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, power generation industries, or similar industry.
  • 3-5 years of petrochemical process experience and working knowledge of field operations preferred.
  • General knowledge on material standards (e.g. ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, NACE and ISO).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbally.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • A willingness and drive to continue to learn and to improve yourself.
  • BS in Engineering.
  • API 571, API 581 and related AMMP certification is preferred.
