About the position

The Staff Facilities Electrical Engineer at Gigafactory New York will support onsite operations by conducting energy audits, performing energy usage calculations, and ensuring the efficiency of electrical systems. This role involves optimizing energy consumption, operating medium voltage equipment, and preparing engineering specifications for bids. The engineer will also establish standards for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform energy audits and provide energy usage calculations.
• Conduct circuit analysis for critical loads and circuit protection for voltage sag.
• Validate, optimize, and analyze efficiency for cost savings and energy reduction.
• Operate equipment and program/adjust medium voltage relays.
• Prepare engineering specifications for bid invitations and evaluate bids for purchases.
• Conduct short circuit studies and overcurrent coordination using Easy Power software.
• Provide base cost estimating services within the electrical scope and collaborate with trades.
• Establish standards for installation, modification, quality control, and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Provide technical support for energy systems implementation and maintenance.
• Implement electrical safety programs following OSHA and NFPA 70E guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8-10 years of direct experience in operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.).
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with medium voltage equipment, including troubleshooting and programming.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and UBC codes and HAZMAT safety protocols.
• Strong communication skills, capable of interfacing at an executive level.
