About the position

The Staff Field Application Engineer at TE Connectivity plays a crucial role in collaborating with customers to recommend and implement products and solutions tailored to their needs. This position involves managing the technical aspects of the sales cycle, ensuring high-quality project execution, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The engineer will be responsible for identifying customer requirements, preparing proposals, and providing ongoing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the needs of the customer/industry as early as possible
  • Gather all information needed to make the design input available as complete as possible
  • Work out, prepare and present proposals (product selection, design solutions and project objectives)
  • Gain, correctly interpret and apply customer information, internal data and diverse research results
  • Project Management of new and existing sales and engineering projects from demand creation to production
  • Interface between the Engineering design team and the customer to ensure mutual understanding of requirements
  • Coordinate and communicate with all involved internal departments
  • Ensure on-time customer delivery of all information, including samples and supporting design and product verification activities
  • Provide regular project status updates to involved parties
  • Develop and maintain a good customer relationship and support customer in technical related items
  • Continuously care for a trusting relationship between the customer and TE
  • Stay in permanent contact with the customer and report project status and feedback
  • Attend project meetings and conduct regular customer calls and presentations
  • Do problem solving and assess technical complaints
  • Help quality teams solve problems with applications through on-site evaluation and discussions
  • Provide technical consultancy and advice
  • Draft product specifications and make adjustments with the customer
  • Strive to achieve Extraordinary Customer Experience for both internal and external customers
  • Ensure customer projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Align with key customer projects, innovation, and technology advancement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Engineering Degree in mechanics, electrics, electronics or relevant experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years professional level engineering experience or demonstrated technical interest and capabilities
  • Demonstrated successful experience in program management
  • Business acumen
  • Prior experience in Sales, Connector Industry, Lighting Industry, or Manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Ability to understand and work out complex technical solutions
  • Creative, analytical, and structured thinking with the ability to execute on priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to build credible relationships
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work toward targets
  • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%-50% of the time
  • Experience with MS Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Salesforce
